Choosing the right school bag according to age or grade

Choosing a school bag isn't just about what your kid likes. It should fit their body type, age, and school needs.
At Caramel & cie, we have three sizes:
• The Mini school bag (32 cm): perfect for preschoolers (1 m to 1.20 m). It can hold an A4 notebook, a pencil case, a stuffed animal, and a snack.

• The Medium school bag (38 cm): suitable for children in grades 1 through 3 (1.10 m to 1.30 m), it can hold binders and pencil cases.

• The Large school bag (41 cm), previous collections: perfect for fourth and fifth graders, or even middle schoolers (1.28 m to 1.60 m).

The right school bag is one that combines comfort, storage capacity, and style. Our collection offers ergonomic, colorful models that can withstand the rigors of everyday school life.

School bag or backpack? How to choose

School bags and backpacks are both valid options for carrying children's school supplies.

School bags remain the preferred choice for elementary school, as they are structured, with horizontal compartments that help organize supplies. They are also easier to carry, higher up on the back.

Backpacks, which are often more flexible, become the natural choice from middle school onwards. They are synonymous with greater independence and personal style. All our models, whether satchels or backpacks, are ergonomic, designed to carry heavy loads, with padded shoulder straps, a padded back, and lightweight, durable materials.

Maintenance & sustainability

Our school bags and backpacks are designed to last. They are made from water-repellent, water-resistant, easy-to-clean fabrics with a waterproof interior. A quick wipe with a damp sponge and a little soap is all it takes. Machine washing is not recommended as it damages the coatings.

What if a buckle breaks or a handle gets damaged? Don't worry: our customer service team will send you a replacement part free of charge. Because at Caramel & cie, durability goes hand in hand with repairability.

Ordering, delivery & returns

We ship your orders within 24 hours from Monday to Friday. Depending on the delivery method you choose (Colissimo, TNT, Mondial Relay), you will receive your package within 1 to 5 business days. Warranty & spare parts

All our products come with a 2-year warranty. If a defect appears despite our high quality standards, we will repair or replace the product. This warranty covers any manufacturing defect, excluding normal wear and tear or misuse.

We also provide spare parts free of charge: buckles, fasteners, handles, etc. Just send us an email.

Eco-responsibility

Eco-responsibility is at the heart of our approach. Our backpacks are made from recycled polyester, with over 80% recycled content, and even 100% in many models. Less waste, more sustainability.

They are manufactured in a BSCI-certified factory, which guarantees good working conditions for artisans. Finally, our free repair program extends the life of our products and limits premature replacement.

Guides by grade level

📘 CP: The Medium schoolbag (38cm) is ideal for starting elementary school. Lightweight, structured, with two compartments and a reinforced back.

📗 CE1/CE2: At this stage, school supplies increase. Our schoolbags remain suitable with more volume and ergonomic reinforcements.

🎒 College: The schoolbag gives way to the backpack. Our models are sturdy, stylish, and practical for carrying binders, books, and personal items. Comfort remains a priority.

Size guide

• Mini (32 x 26 x 8 cm) → Kindergarten – Height between 1m and 1.20m

• Medium (38 x 31 x 12 cm) → First to second grade – Height between 1.10m and 1.30m

• Large (41 x 32 x 16 cm) → Late primary school and college – Height between 1.28 m and 1.60 m

Always choose a school bag that is suited to your child's body type. If it 's too big, it will be uncomfortable; if it 's too small, it will limit storage space.
