At Caramel & cie, ergonomics are at the heart of every model: wide, padded adjustable straps, a structured back with reinforcements, waterproofing, and reinforced seams to last the entire school year, and even the next.

Our primary school backpacks adhere to the 10% rule: the weight of the empty bag is well below 10% of the average weight of a primary school child. This is a significant factor when you consider that a second-grade student can carry up to 3 kg of textbooks every day.

Medium or large: which primary school backpack to choose?

Caramel & cie offers two sizes adapted to each school level:

The medium backpack (approx. 18L) is ideal for students from CP (first grade) to CE2 (third grade). At this age, the volume of supplies remains reasonable, and a compact bag is sufficient. This ergonomic backpack is easier for younger children to carry and adapts to their body shape.

The large backpack (approx. 25L) is perfect for CM1 (fourth grade) and CM2 (fifth grade), where the number of textbooks increases. Its additional compartments allow for organizing supplies, pencil case, water bottle, and sports gear without everything getting jumbled up.

Our models come in various designs for both girls and boys — floral prints and velvet for girls' backpacks, and sporty and graphic patterns for boys' backpacks.
